Global Shiance (Food System) and SDG Report Initiative
Inspired by the greeting message from UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the 4th World Shiology Forum (WSF) in 2023, the Shiology Research Center at Renmin University of China and the World Shiology Forum are jointly launching a three-year, three-phase Global Shiance (Food System) and SDGs Report project.
The Phase One / Version 1.0 report will be officially released at the 5th WSF in October 2025, followed by an in-person handover ceremony at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in November 2025.
This pioneering report will be the first of its kind to examine people-centered food systems through a holistic “three-in-one” approach, which integrates:
· Food consumers
· Supply chains
· Distribution systems (Shi-order)—the organizing framework that governs all food system activities
The report will be closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Of the 17 SDGs, 13 are directly related to food and agriculture—making them central to Shiology’s research focus (Shiology & SDGs alignment chart). The report will provide a comprehensive assessment of food systems across all 193 UN member countries, with the aim of understanding their current status and impact on SDG achievement, guided by Shiology-based theoretical frameworks and practical solutions.
In addition, the report will showcase 100 case studies under the themes:
· “Best Practices of SDGs Brands”
· “Innovative Food System Solutions”
These cases will offer global corporations and applied research institutions an opportunity to share their experiences, highlight effective models, and promote their brands within the UN ecosystem and across member states.
Given the complexity and global nature of this initiative, over 100 co-authors from many UN member states are already contributing—making this a truly international, collaborative effort.
All contributors, in any capacity, will be acknowledged and cited in the report.
To view the report framework or to join as a co-author, please visit the pages: “Background and Structure” and “Become a Co-author”.
We warmly welcome your participation and look forward to partnering with you on this transformative global endeavor.
